Union Home Minister Amit Shah
New Delhi: The Centre on Friday repatriated Border Security Force (BSF) Director General (DG) Nitin Agarwal and his deputy special DG (west) Y B Khurania to their parent state cadres with immediate effect, according to a government order. Agarwal is a 1989-batch Kerala cadre officer, while Khurania is a 1990-batch Odisha cadre officer.
He took over the post in June last year
Agarwal took over as the chief of the Border Security Force in June last year. As Special DG (West), Khurania was heading the force on the Pakistan border. The Appointments Cabinet Committee (ACC) said in separate orders that he is being sent back “with immediate effect and before time”. The BSF, a security force with around 2.65 lakh personnel, is responsible for guarding the Indian borders with Pakistan in the west and Bangladesh in the east.
Home Ministry sent Nitin Agarwal back to his cadre
In two separate orders issued on Friday, it is said about BSF DG Nitin Agarwal that the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has ordered to send 1989 batch IPS and BSF DG Agarwal of Kerala cadre back to his original state cadre with immediate effect. In this case, the proposal to send him back to his original state cadre ahead of time was given by the Union Home Ministry. The committee approved this proposal and approved to send him back to Kerala.
Is terrorist attack in J&K the reason?
Let us tell you that at present no official is ready to say anything about the orders to send these two top BSF officers back to their original cadre. But it is believed that the way terrorist attacks have increased in Jammu and Kashmir in the last few days, these decisions were probably taken in view of that.
