Big news! Hardik Pandya will be the captain in the T20 series against Sri Lanka

New Delhi. Big news is coming out about the series to be played against Sri Lanka. Team India has to play 3 T20 and the same number of ODI matches on this tour. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be the captain of the Indian team in the three-match T20 cricket series against Sri Lanka starting from July 27. This has been confirmed in the information received from inside the BCCI.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who played a key role in India’s victory in the ICC T20 World Cup final, will captain the Indian team in the upcoming T20 series. Rohit Sharma had announced his retirement from this format after making the Indian team the T20 champion. A senior BCCI source told PTI, “Hardik Pandya was the vice-captain of the Indian T20 team. He is fully fit and is also available for the three-match T20 series, so he will be the captain.”

The T20 series will be played in Pallekele from July 27 to 30 while the ODIs will be held in Colombo from August 2 to 7. The team will be announced in the next few days. It is not yet decided whether the vice-captain will be Shubman Gill or Suryakumar Yadav. Regarding the ODI series, the official said that Pandya has asked for a break due to personal reasons and has informed regular captain Rohit Sharma about it.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has clearly stated that all star cricketers will also have to play domestic cricket if they do not play international cricket. Rohit, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah have been exempted. The BCCI wants all the other Test specialists to play at least one match of the Duleep Trophy in August. After this, the team has to play Test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand.
