New Delhi: India TV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma has got a big relief in an important defamation case. Rajat Sharma had filed a defamation case after Congress leader Ragini Nayak falsely accused him of using abusive language. Congress leaders had also held a press conference making this false allegation. The Delhi High Court gave strict orders in this case and declared the allegations of Congress leaders as false. Accepting the arguments of lawyer Maninder Singh, the court ordered that all such false videos of Congress be removed from social media within a week. Prima facie, the court has found that the tweets made by Congress leaders pose a threat to Rajat Sharma’s reputation. Summons have been issued to Congress leaders in this case and now the next hearing will be held on July 11.
Court gave strict orders to Congress leaders
Let us tell you that after Ragini Nayak falsely accused him of using abusive language, Rajat Sharma filed a petition before the Delhi High Court on Friday and claimed defamation of Rs 100 crore against Congress leaders Ragini Nayak, Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera. Hearing on this, the court ordered on Saturday that the Congress will also have to remove the videos of the press conference in this matter. Along with this, Pawan Khera and Jairam Ramesh will also have to remove their tweets. The court has also directed that the videos which are in the public domain should be made private by Google India Private Limited and they should not be put in the public domain without a judicial order.
‘Truth can be troubled, but not defeated’
Delhi High Court has said that Congress leaders have fabricated a sensation and all their videos containing false allegations should be removed within a week. After the court’s order, Rajat Sharma wrote on X, ‘Truth can be troubled, but not defeated’. Let us tell you that Ragini Nayak had tweeted 6 days after the live show and falsely accused Rajat Sharma of abusing her and Congress leaders had duly made this disgusting allegation an issue. However, the court has now given a strict order to Congress to remove all such false videos.
