New Delhi. Efforts are being made to complete the high-speed rail network in the country. Work is going on continuously on the project of running bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. A lot of construction work of the bullet train project has also been completed. Amidst all this, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave great news about the bullet train on Friday. He said that to ensure safe operation of the bullet train service, an automated rainfall monitoring system will be installed so that the high-speed train running at a speed of 320 kmph can run safely in torrential rain.
Ashwini Vaishnav said in a post on ‘X’, ‘An automated rainfall monitoring system has been adopted to ensure safe operation of bullet train services. This system will provide real time data about rainfall using rain gauges equipped with advanced instrumentation system.’ According to the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which is building the bullet train corridor, the track maintenance center will monitor the data generated by the rain gauges installed near the track.

This is how the automated system will work
An NHSRCL official said, ‘These data are shared with the train traffic controller to advise the implementation of necessary procedures to control the speed of the train.’ He further said that since the train will run at a speed of 320 kmph, every minute precaution is being taken to ensure its safety. The Railway Ministry has officially announced the completion of the first phase of the bullet train project, a 50 km long section between Surat and Bilimora in Gujarat, by August 2026. According to NHSRCL, the bullet train will run at its maximum speed of 320 kmph and cover a distance of 508 km in two hours and 58 minutes, including its stoppage time at all 10 stations.
There are 12 stations between Mumbai and Ahmedabad
The bullet train will start from Mumbai and end at Sabarmati after covering 10 stations namely Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand and Ahmedabad. Out of 508 km in the bullet train project, 352 km falls in Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, while the remaining 156 km is in Maharashtra. It has a total of 12 stations, out of which 8 are in Gujarat and 4 in Maharashtra.
