In fact, the traditional Indian sari is making a comeback as the dress code for the country’s female athletes at the Olympics after a gap of eight years. According to a TOI report, female athletes will wear saris at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. The traditional blue blazer with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) logo will not be part of the dress code. The sari will be paired with a matching blouse. This blouse will be saffron in colour. According to reports, the IOA has also approved the design.

The last time Indian women athletes were seen in a sari was in the Rio Olympics in 2016. However, at that time a blue blazer with a sari was also part of the dress code. At the same time, in the Tokyo Games in 2021, women athletes wore traditional golden salwar suits with jackets, while men wore high-collared indigenous jackets. But this time male athletes will wear traditional kurta-pajama in Paris, which will be paired with a bundi jacket with the official insignia. Let us tell you that this will be the first Olympic opening ceremony to be held outside the stadium. This has never happened in the history of the Olympics before.
