Patna. Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan i.e. Pappu Yadav responded to the impeachment motion against Justice Yashwant Verma and the ongoing dispute over the intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar. He said that the process of impeachment can be discussed in Parliament and a decision can be taken by majority or consent. Along with this, Bihar voters raised questions about revision.
He said in a special conversation with that India’s judicial and parliamentary system is the most different and respected in the world. If a judge of the Supreme Court or the High Court is charged with serious allegations, such as partiality or benefiting the government, impeachment can be brought under the Constitution.
Pappu Yadav said, “This is necessary to protect our democratic system and constitutional values. The process of impeachment can be discussed in Parliament and a decision can be taken by majority or consent.”
Pappu Yadav also questioned the ongoing voter list revision in Bihar. The Election Commission has said that many people from Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar were found during intensive revision, whose names will not be included in the final voter list. On this, Yadav taunted and said, “How is the Election Commission claiming that someone belongs to Nepal or Bangladesh? If there are Aadhaar cards, ration cards or other documents, on what basis will people be removed from the list?”
He questioned that when an identity card or document is not being sought, how is it being decided by asking only the name and father’s name. Pappu Yadav described the process as wrong and suspicious. He said, “The opposition is raising the issue because people’s names are being removed without concrete evidence. This can be an attempt to influence the election process.”
He alleged that the booth level officer (BLO) is taking only oral information without checking the documents, which is wrong. He further said that the opposition is turning to the Supreme Court on this issue, because this process is not transparent. MP Pappu Yadav said that the first ten elections in Bihar have been held on the basis of the current voter list, so why suddenly this revision? Pappu Yadav described the process against constitutional and democratic values and demanded that it be made transparent and fair.
