Bihar: The smell of tea was coming from inside the container, the police was surprised when the shutter was opened

Highlights

The aroma of tea was coming from the container, but when the secret cellar was opened, a huge quantity of liquor was found.A huge consignment of liquor coming from Arunachal Pradesh was seized by the Excise Department team in Muzaffarpur.

Priyank Saurabh/Muzaffarpur. Despite liquor being prohibited in Bihar, smugglers keep finding new ways to smuggle alcohol. But, many times they are caught due to the vigilance of the police. One such case has come to light in Muzaffarpur where the excise department has recovered 230 cartons of foreign liquor from a container with Odisha number. This action was taken on Friday near Maithi Toll Plaza of Gaighat.

It is being told that Arunachal Pradesh-made liquor was being smuggled in this container under the cover of tea leaves. The consignment of liquor was kept in a secret basement built in the container. Two pickup vans, in which the liquor was being unloaded, have also been seized. Muzaffarpur police is now taking further legal action in this case.

Excise Inspector Shivendra Kumar said that for the past few days, liquor smugglers were bringing consignments of liquor to Muzaffarpur in this manner. The empty container used to come to Bihar from Arunachal Pradesh and go back after roaming in different districts. This time the excise department got suspicious because the container was loaded with tea leaves.

Shivendra Kumar said that the team was tracking this container for the last three days and finally this gang was caught. The excise police has also arrested a supplier from the spot who has been identified as Kamaldev Rai, resident of Motipur Nariyar. The police is interrogating him and finding out the main businessman.
