Power Outage in Mumbai: Recently, there was a power crisis in Chandigarh. The residents had to remain in darkness for several hours due to the strike by the electricity workers. Similar news is coming from Mayanagari Mumbai. There is no electricity in a large area here since Sunday morning. It has also had its real impact on rail service. According to the information, there was a power failure in the central, western and southern parts of Mumbai on Sunday morning, affecting the local train service, the lifeline of the city. This is the first major power outage in the country’s financial capital since October 2020. Officials said that this situation has arisen due to grid failure. BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) tweeted around 10 am on Sunday, “Due to some technical issue, power supply has stalled in many parts of the city. Our team is on the field to solve the problem. Power supply is expected to be restored in an hour. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
About an hour later, Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) said that all transmission lines have been restored. Tata Power Supply reported a power outage between 9:50 am and 10:53 am. Power cut due to technical fault. According to BMC officials, power supply was affected in most parts of Mumbai due to the tripping of the MSEB 220 kV transmission line on Mulund-Trombay. The head of BEST’s electric supply division provided the same information.
Mumbai: Effects of power crisis on local trains as well
Disruption of train services was reported between 9 am and 10 am. There was disruption from Churchgate to Vile Parle railway stations at around 10:40 am, Western Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Sumit Thakur said in a statement. Overhead system has been restored, signaling system is under restoration.
