Kolkata . West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said that the ruling BJP at the Center is hatching various conspiracies to divert attention from the economic crisis in the country. He told media persons, “During the last 13 days, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased 11 times. There has also been a huge increase in the prices of cooking gas. The country is going through a serious economic crisis. The government is with all parties. Meetings should be held, discussions should be held, but the ruling party of the country is resorting to conspiracies to divert public attention from this economic crisis.
Mamta also said that many fake incidents are made viral in the country to instigate people. “Often people react to it without checking the authenticity. Attempts are made to malign my image, but I know how to counter it,” he said.
He also said that the central government is silent about the academic future of Indian students who have returned from Ukraine. Mamta said, “The central government should take responsibility, so that the students of Ukraine can complete their studies in the country. I have already written to the central government in this matter. Though, I have not received any reply yet, but I have decided.” The state government should also make arrangements for the students of West Bengal who have returned from Ukraine.”
Recently, in a video, Ghiyasuddin Mandal, an expelled student of Alia University, is shown abusing the Vice-Chancellor and is being said to have links with the Trinamool Congress. In this regard, the Chief Minister said that the police has taken prompt action by arresting the culprit.
“The students may have some complaints. One of them misbehaved with V-C, for which he has been arrested,” he said.
Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Ali said that he no longer wishes to continue at Alia University after this grave humiliation. “I want to go back to Jadavpur University and I have also written to JU officials in this regard,” he said.
