Chandigarh MP Dipendra Hooda held the BJP government responsible for DAP urea fertilizer and black marketing in the state, saying that since 2014, farmers are facing fertilizer shortage and black marketing in every crop season. The government is promoting black market by creating a shortage of fertilizer. Dipendra Hooda demanded that the government immediately make adequate arrangements for DAP and urea fertilizer and curb the black marketing of fertilizer. He said that during the BJP rule, there was also a record of the fact that fertilizer is being distributed from the police stations. The police which should be engaged in the safety of the public, crime and criminals are guarded for the work of distribution of compost. Every season, farmers, women and children of their families have to wait for several days in long queues overnight, yet DAP and urea fertilizer are not available. In the black market, farmers are being forced to buy DAP, urea fertilizer at expensive prices.
Dipendra Hooda said that despite having BJP governments both the Center and the state, farmers are craving for fertilizer. For the kharif crop, less than half of the stock fertilizer has been supplied from the Center. About 14 lakh metric tons of manure was to be received, but less than 6 lakh metric tons of manure has been given. Most of this fertilizer is going near private shopkeepers or other states. Due to fertilizer shortage, the crisis of kharif sowing has arisen.
He said that farmers should sow the kharif crop or should be in line at the fertilizer centers for several days. Women, leaving the chowka-chulha, have to leave their education and write for manure. To save their crops, farmers have to buy DAP fertilizer Rs 2000 and urea fertilizer by paying expensive price of Rs 400. If the farmers are worried for fertilizer, then the government remains a spectacle on the hand as usual.
