The Gujarat government may withdraw the bill regarding stray animals, which had talked about making licenses necessary for animal husbandry in urban areas. The bill was opposed by the Gujarat Maldhari community, who generally do animal husbandry. Gujarat BJP President CR Patil said that this bill can also be withdrawn. Earlier on March 29, Patil had also spoken of withdrawing the Pari-Tapi-Narmada interlinking project. The project was being opposed by tribal communities. He said that due to this he may have to lose his land. After the announcement of CR Patil, it was officially announced in the assembly as well.
In this way, Patil has spoken of withdrawing two decisions in a single week. It is believed that the BJP government does not want to offend any community. Elections are due in the state later this year and before that she does not want to become a victim of anger from any section. The Congress was also strongly opposing the proposed bill regarding animals. CR Patil said on Monday, ‘I think there are a lot of provisions under the Gujarat Municipal Act to control stray animals in the state. Some leaders have given me a memorandum in this regard and I have asked the CM to consider the matter once again. CM’s stand was positive and I think the government will reconsider it.
Congress had intensified the protest, BJP came on the back foot
Let us inform that on March 31, the state government had introduced the Gujarat Kettle Control in Urban Areas Bill. Regarding this bill, the government had said that it would help in dealing with the problem of stray animals in urban areas. According to the new bill, people will have to get a license for animal husbandry in urban areas. Registration and tagging are also necessary for rearing animals in the areas under the municipal corporation. Not only this, a provision has also been made for legal action for violating this rule. On this a protest was started by the Congress. Not only this, it was also getting support from the Maldhari community, due to which the BJP is now seen coming on the back foot.
