News Checker Fact Check: A letter from Bharatiya Janata Party National President Jagat Prakash Nadda is going viral on social media, which he has written to Lok Sabha candidate Vinod Bind from Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh. In this letter, JP Nadda has expressed concern about BJP’s lagging behind in Bhadohi. However, fact check found that the viral letter is fake. BJP spokesperson Sanjay Mayukh has also denied this.
The letter, written on the letterhead of BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda, reads, “Respected Vinod Bind Ji. From the entire BJP family, we wish you all the best for the upcoming elections. Under the leadership of respected Shri Modi ji, you are continuously working on the ground to implement our 400 Paar slogan on the ground. To fulfill BJP’s pledge of 400 seats, it is extremely important and mandatory for Bhadohi Lok Sabha seat to walk shoulder to shoulder with our slogan, in that context I am writing this letter to you.
In the letter, the party president further writes, “For the last 15 days, the party has been lagging behind in your Bhadohi Lok Sabha, this is a matter of utmost concern and it is necessary that we sit together and discuss it with immediate effect and after reviewing it, take action in the coming elections. Prepare for 15 day rejuvenation. In order to improve the political situation of Bhadohi and to strengthen our hold, we have organized a meeting of the respected Prime Minister in Bhadohi on 16th May with immediate effect. I am writing this letter to you in this context, and request you to visit our Delhi office as soon as possible. I want to inform you with full confidence that our position is still strong and if you smoothly implement the program decided after review, then Bhadohi will also become a part of our 400 family”.

News Checker When the Fact Check team read this letter, it found many grammatical errors, which are not usually found in such letters.
After this the team investigated the news related to the claims being made in the viral letter. During the search, no such report was found in which there was any mention of the BJP President’s letter. However, many news were received related to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally organized in Bhadohi on 16 May. A report published on the website of Amar Ujala was found on 12 May 2024. It was told in this report that party workers and administration have started preparations for PM Modi’s rally to be held in Bhadohi on May 16.
During fact checking done at multiple levels, no such report was found which mentioned when PM Modi’s rally in Bhadohi was actually scheduled.
After this, the News Checker team matched the viral letter with the actual letter issued by JP Nadda. During this time, a similar letter was found published on the website of Navbharat Times, which the BJP President had written to LJP (Ram Vilas faction) President Chirag Paswan.
When these two letters were compared, some differences were seen. For example, in the viral letter there was no mention of the date of its issue or the location of the recipient, whereas both these things were present in the real letter.
The team contacted BJP’s national media convener Sanjay Mayukh. He said that the viral letter is fake, no such letter has been issued from the office of National President JP Nadda.
Regarding this, we also contacted Uttar Pradesh BJP President Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, whose name is present in the viral letter and to whom a copy of this letter was allegedly sent. He said, “We have not received any such letter and we do not have the tradition of writing a letter to invite someone to a meeting. Therefore this letter must be fake”.
It is clear from the evidence found in News Checker’s investigation that the viral letter of BJP President JP Nadda is fake.
