BJP will protest against the increase in diesel and petrol prices.
Hassan: The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold a state-wide protest on June 17 against the hike in petrol and diesel prices in Karnataka. The party’s state president B.Y. Vijayendra gave this information on Sunday. Let us tell you that the Karnataka government on Saturday increased the ‘sales tax’ on fuel, due to which the price of petrol and diesel increased. Due to the increase in sales tax, the price of petrol has increased by three rupees per liter and the price of diesel has increased by Rs 3.50 per liter.
Urged to withdraw the decision immediately
BJP state president Vijayendra said at the party’s Hassan district headquarters, “We urge the Chief Minister to immediately withdraw the decision to increase the ‘sales tax’. Yesterday we have organized protests across the state and we will not sit quiet until this hike is withdrawn.” He said that protests will be held against the government in all the district headquarters of the state. Vijayendra alleged that the ‘desperate chief minister’ increased the prices of petrol and diesel because he is unable to start any new program due to ‘five guarantees’. He said, “After the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress government increased the fuel prices. This will cause trouble to all sections of the state. ”
Increased sales tax to raise resources
According to officials, the aim of increasing the ‘sales tax’ on fuel is to raise resources. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reviewed the state’s revenue generation and fiscal situation and took a decision in this regard. He is also holding the additional charge of Finance Minister. Actually, the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel has come a few days after the results of the Lok Sabha elections. In the Lok Sabha elections, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) got 19 out of 28 seats in Karnataka, including BJP 17 and Janata Dal (Secular) two seats. The ruling Congress party of the state won nine seats. (input language)
