Buoyed by its success in the four assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa, the party has decided not to contest the upcoming civic polls in alliance.
Party sources in the union territory told -AnyTV News that the party’s national organizing secretary B.L. Santosh and Puducherry party in-charge Nirmal Kumar Surana had attended the meeting of party office bearers on Saturday.
Talking to -AnyTV News, Nirmal Kumar Surana said, “The local leaders of the party are of the opinion that we will contest the elections alone and not form an alliance with any other party. This will give us a grassroots connect with the public and this party in the long run.” would be extremely beneficial.”
According to BJP leaders, BJP’s powerful Education Minister A.K. Local BJP leaders, including Namasivayam, are unhappy with the working style of Chief Minister Rangasamy, who has been taking important administrative decisions on his own without consulting the BJP.
Surana said that as the country is moving towards a Congress-free India, Puducherry is also moving towards a Congress-free state and BJP wants to build its strength for this. He said the party workers and sympathizers are already ready to contest the elections alone.
Party leaders are also unhappy that Rangasamy has not met Prime Minister Narendra Modi since becoming the chief minister. The BJP’s local leadership seeks to gain strength at the grassroots level and civic polls will provide the best understanding of the party’s grassroots strength.
BJP leaders are also enthused that they have won 6 of the 9 seats they have contested. The party also has three nominated MLAs and three independents, who are supporting the party. This takes the total strength of BJP in the assembly to 12.
Surana said that the party wants to take advantage of the public wave after the assembly elections in five states and for this, contesting the local elections alone is the best step.
