Bangalore. Reacting to the bandh call by Muslim organizations against the decision to ban the wearing of hijab in classrooms, BJP national general secretary C.T. Ravi on Thursday said that people need to leave the Jinnah mentality.
“They did the same thing after the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Shah Bano case. Then the Congress government led by Rajiv Gandhi succumbed to their pressure. This is not the time to continue with your agenda,” Ravi said.
“Come out of Jinnah’s mindset and develop the spirit of Indianness. Jinnah’s agenda will no longer work,” he said.
He said, “If they think they can intimidate the courts, then the courts will not bother, if they think they can threaten the government, then it is not possible. It is the BJP government which puts national interest paramount. sees.”
“If the decision is as per their wish, they will talk about the Constitution and the court. If they get the opposite verdict, they talk about their agenda,” Ravi said.
“This is not a government that will waver, it is not even possible to create fear in the government,” he said.
Muslim organizations have called for a bandh on Thursday against the decision of a special bench of the Karnataka High Court banning hijab in classrooms. Police have made tight security arrangements in sensitive areas.
