Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are going to visit the state soon. It is being said that the party has started preparations for the victory of Gujarat by taking experience of the results of 2017 elections.
According to the Economic Times, the BJP had suffered a lot in 2017 in rural seats. In such a situation, the party is focusing on the rural areas as well as those special 57 seats, which have proved to be a big challenge in the last 5 years. A senior party functionary says, “There has always been a section in Gujarat which does not vote for the BJP, especially in the assembly elections, and this time we want to start from there, as the focus is on vote share and widening the gap.”
In 2017, the party had won 35 out of 37 seats where the margin of victory was more than 40,000 votes. But BJP could win only 26 seats out of 63 seats with less than 10 thousand vote difference. Whereas, 35 such seats had come in the account of Congress. It is reported that the party has now planned to launch ‘Vistarak Yojana’, under which senior functionaries will be given the responsibilities of the districts. These leaders will take stock of the situation in every ward, every division and give information to the leaders.
According to the report, on the condition of confidentiality, party workers say that the BJP’s condition was good in 2017, but the increasing activism of the Aam Aadmi Party and the alertness of the Congress will have to be monitored.
The main focus of the party is to strengthen the organization in 76 out of the 141 seats that the Congress won in 2017. The special thing is that on the one hand the Congress performed well in Saurashtra. At the same time, the party could not woo the voters in North and Central Gujarat. The margin of victory in at least 1 out of every 6 seats out of 30 was less than NOTA. A party functionary said, “The BJP won 34 out of 38 urban seats and we are making sure it wins there too.”
Before the elections, PM Modi and Home Minister Shah are preparing to visit the state every month. At the same time, Shah can reach Gujarat by the end of this month. In the last two weeks, at least four Union ministers have reached Gujarat to know the ground reality. These include the names of Bhupendra Yadav, Mansukh Mandaviya and Anurag Thakur.
