Jaipur. Amidst the scorching heat in Rajasthan, black marketing of water has come to light in the capital Jaipur. When the water supply department tried to stop this black marketing, there was chaos. The water supply administration has registered a case against four tanker drivers who were black marketing government water in the scorching heat. After that, the tanker operators have stopped the supply of drinking water through tankers in Jaipur and started a strike. The water supply administration has also released videos of black marketing of water.
In this special operation of PHED, it was revealed that Jaipur South drivers Laxman, Narayan, Himmat and Virendra were selling the water department tankers in the market for a huge amount. In these videos released by the water department, tanker drivers are seen charging 600 to 700 rupees for a tanker from the general public. Whereas the government has made the distribution of all tankers free. The government pays the tanker supplying firm for this. But in view of the summer conditions, the tanker operators have started charging profit from the water being given free to the general public.
The government provides free tanker water
On one hand, tanker operators are charging huge amount from the government in the name of tanker supply. On the other hand, they are selling water to the public. Water which is available free of cost from the high end of the water supply department is being sold in the market at the rate of Rs. 600-700 per tanker. On the instructions of Additional Chief Engineer of Water Supply Department Amitabh Sharma, a case has been registered against these four drivers in Kardhani police station.
300 tankers make 2000 trips every day
As soon as a case was registered against four tanker operators, all the tanker drivers came out in protest against this action. To put pressure on the water supply administration, they have sent information to the administration about stopping the supply of water through tankers. The water supply department supplies water through about 300 tankers in Jaipur every day. These tankers make so many trips that their number reaches up to two thousand tankers per day.
Supply is also done through tankers in many areas of Jaipur rural
Apart from this, water is being supplied through about 250 tankers in the rural areas of Jaipur. Due to the intense heat of Nautapa, drinking water is supplied to the outskirts of Jaipur through tankers only. Out of more than 10 lakh families in Jaipur, only five lakh families have drinking water connections issued by the Water Supply Department. The remaining five lakh families are dependent on private tube wells and private tankers as well as the drinking water supply provided by tankers by the Water Supply Department. Due to the shortage of drinking water in summer, water reaches homes with low pressure in all areas of Jaipur. Due to this, even 30 percent of the people with drinking water connections need water from tankers.
