Ferozepur In compliance with the instructions of Ferozepur Cantonment Board Chairman/Station Commander amidst the stressful relations between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, the rehearsal of Blackout was successfully held in the entire cantonment area from 9:00 pm to 9:30 pm today. The purpose of this exercise was to assess the preparations for the cantonment in the event of any emergency, such as external invasion or closure of power supply during natural disaster. This rehearsal began at the scheduled time, and the power supply of the entire cantonment area was closed at 9:00 pm.
During this time, backup generators remained active to ensure uninterrupted power supply to essential services such as hospitals, fire centers and other important establishments. During the blackout, the Cantonment Administration tested various safety protocols and emergency response processes. Security forces intensified patrolling in the area, and the functionality of communication systems was also evaluated.
An important aspect of this practice was that the residents should be made aware of the precautions and emergency measures taken in the event of power failure. Cantonment Board officials said that the rehearsal was concluded in a completely peaceful and planned manner. The residents also collaborated in this exercise and kept power off in their homes and establishments till the scheduled time. The authorities appreciated this cooperation of the citizens and described it as a symbol of their responsibility for safety and preparations for the cantonment.
After the blackout, the power supply was gradually restored at 9:30 pm. The Cantonment Board will now analyze the experiences and observations obtained during this rehearsal so that the emergency response system can be made more effective. The report of this exercise will be submitted to the Chairman/Station Commander, which will mention the recommendations for the areas of improvement and future.
The rehearsal of the blackout is an important step towards strengthening the security preparations of the Ferozepur Cantonment. Such regular exercises not only increase the ability to deal with emergency situations, but also promote a sense of safety and awareness among the residents. The cantonment administration is committed to conducting such exercises in future also so that any unpleasant situation can be dealt with effectively.
