Dieticians believe that what you eat and drink directly affects your blood pressure. This is why BP patients should take special care of their diet. If you want to avoid the problem of high BP, then consume less salt. Excessive consumption of salt affects your blood pressure quickly. Therefore, you should not consume more than 2300 mg of salt per day. You can control BP by including potassium-rich foods in your diet. For this, eat a lot of bananas and spinach.
Simrat Kathuria told that a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein can be beneficial to control high blood pressure. Increase the intake of fiber-rich foods like oats and beans. Consume omega-3 fatty acids found in fatty fish and flax seeds. Eat magnesium-rich foods like nuts and seeds. Use garlic and herbs instead of salt for taste. Drink adequate amount of water and herbal tea. You can consume dark chocolate in small quantities. Weight should also be controlled to control BP.
According to experts, to avoid high BP, avoid alcohol and caffeine. Avoid processed meats, canned soups, fast food, sugary drinks and high-sodium foods. Use fresh or frozen vegetables instead of canned vegetables. Choose whole foods instead of processed options. Use herbs and spices instead of salt. Apart from this, monitor blood pressure regularly. Do exercises like walking, running or swimming for at least 30 minutes on most days. Control your stress level and take the medicines prescribed by the doctor on time.
