Bomb blast in Afghanistan (symbolic photo)
Islamabad: A massive bomb blast has taken place in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul. At least one person has died in a bomb blast in a minivan. The terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for this attack on Monday. The terrorist organization said in a statement that it detonated an explosive device targeting members of the Shia minority community. The Islamic State has put the number of people injured and killed in the bomb blast at 13.
Other areas of the Shia community were also targeted
Police spokesman Khalid Zadran confirmed a bomb blast in the western part of Kabul city on Monday. He said that one civilian died and 11 people were injured in the blast. He said that the explosion took place in the Dashte Barachi area and the police is investigating. Kabul’s Dashte Barachi area has been repeatedly targeted by IS affiliate organizations. These organizations have attacked schools, hospitals and mosques many times. Not only this, other areas of the country where Shias live were also targeted.
Islamic State has carried out attacks before
Islamic State has previously carried out attacks targeting Shia community in Afghanistan. IS terrorists have carried out attacks in Kabul and other parts of the country. In 2021, a bomb blast took place in a Shia mosque in Kunduz city of Afghanistan in which more than 50 people were killed and more than 100 people were injured. Islamic State claimed responsibility for this attack. In the year 2023, a massive bomb blast was carried out in Zaman Mosque in Afghanistan’s Balgan province, targeting the Shia community. In this, 15 people were killed and many were injured. (AP)
