A post by Pakistan Hyundai has created an uproar on the social networking site Twitter. Due to this post on Kashmir, this ruckus increased so much that Indians on Twitter started registering their protest against the company with the hashtag #BoycottHyundai. Within no time, this hatchtag became a trend and thousands of tweets started being made with this trend. The result of this post by Pakistan Hyundai was that Indian users also started criticizing Hyundai India, after which the company has now issued a statement through its official Twitter handle.
The statement issued from the official Twitter handle of Hyundai India said, “Hyundai Motor India has been committed to the Indian market for more than 25 years and we stand firm for our strong ethos of respecting nationalism. Unsolicited social media posts linking Hyundai Motor India are hurting our unparalleled commitment and services to this great nation.
India is the second home of the Hyundai brand and we have a zero tolerance policy towards insensitive communication and we strongly condemn any such views. As part of our commitment to India, we will continue our efforts for the betterment of the country as well as its citizens.”
What is the whole matter:
Actually, a post was made by the official Twitter handle of Pakistan Hyundai on 5 February. In which it was written that, “Let us remember the sacrifice of our Kashmiri brothers and stand in support by continuing the struggle for freedom.” Apart from this, it was written in another post that, “We pray for the freedom of beautiful Kashmir today and always.” The #KashmirSolidarityDay hatchtag was also used with these posts.
It was only after this post of Pakistan Hyundai that Indian Twitter users got furious and opened a front on social media against Hyundai, the second largest car company in the Indian automobile sector. Indian users took to Twitter to register their protest with the #BoycottHyundai hatchtag. Some users wrote that, ‘Will you still buy Hyundai Creta and Seltos cars.’
After this statement of Hyundai India, some Indian users are still expressing their displeasure. He believes that the company has not apologized even once which clearly shows his stand. At the same time, some users have given their reaction by directly dismissing this statement of Hyundai India, calling it ‘Not Accepted’.
In the passenger car segment, after Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai cars are the most liked in the Indian market. Recently, the company has also launched its new brand Kia in the Indian market, from which cars like Seltos to Carens have been introduced. Apart from this, if any brand is considered as the closest competitor of Maruti Suzuki in almost every segment, then it is Hyundai.
However, if we talk about the company’s vehicle portfolio in the Indian market, at present it includes cars like the entry level hatchback Santro to mid-size SUVs like Alcazar. At the same time, the company’s Venue and Creta are one of the best selling cars in the country. Soon Hyundai is also preparing to launch affordable electric cars in the Indian market, currently the Kona electric SUV is available for sale.
