An eight-year-old girl was kidnapped and gang-raped on Saturday by four miscreants in the Chandan police station area of Bihar’s Banka district. The girl was a resident of Chandan Panchayat. The family members have lodged an FIR against four people in the matter. The police have taken three accused into custody and are interrogating the son of one of the accused after arresting him from Jamui. Hundreds of women and girls protested against the incident by blocking the Chandan Deoghar main road near Chandan bus stand for about two hours on Sunday afternoon.
According to the victim’s family, the said girl had gone to play Holi near Durga temple, located about half a kilometer away from her house, along with her five-year-old brother at 2 pm on Saturday. Meanwhile, a red colored Toto person made the girl and her brother sit in Toto. After going some distance, he dropped his brother and fled with the girl. On suspicion of missing the girl, the family members searched her and gave oral information to Chandan police station.
When the family reached Toto’s house late on Saturday evening, he was found absconding from the house. During the search at 11 o’clock in the night, when the family members reached there, seeing two or four dogs hovering near the drain on the side of the railway track near Chandan railway station, they were seen on the feet of the girl covered with sand. After removing the sand, the child’s body was found in the nude. There were bruises and scratches everywhere on the body of the girl. The poor had taken out his eyes too. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot, took the dead body in its possession and sent it to Banka for post-mortem in the morning.
In this case, the police have taken into custody the named accused Chandan Bazar residents Ajay Varnwal, Doman Paswan and Shridhar Varnwal alias Chhotu Varnwal. Whereas Toto is engaged in raids for the arrest of owner Sagar Soni. Police has arrested Toto owner Sagar Soni’s son from Jamui.
Hundreds of women and girls blocked the Chandan Deoghar main road near Chandan bus stand on Sunday in protest against the incident. On receiving the information, SDPO, Circle Inspector, Station Officer Chandan and Katoria, BDO Rakesh Kumar, Revenue Officer Bharti Bhushan and Chief Ravish Kumar removed the jam on the assurance of arresting the absconding accused Sagar Soni soon and strict punishment to the culprits.
Regarding the incident, SP Arbind Kumar Gupta said that the involvement of three people has been found in the case. Two accused have been arrested. Soon the charge sheet will be filed in the case and the harshest punishment will be given to the accused.
