Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the General Budget 2024 in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Let us tell you that this was the first budget of the third term of the Modi government, due to which people’s eyes were fixed on it. Leaders of various parties are giving their own reactions on the budget announcements. However, there is one such announcement in the budget of the Modi government, which has made the Congress party very happy. Congress has even said that the Finance Minister had read the election manifesto of the Congress.

Announcement of Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme

In fact, the Modi government has announced the Pradhan Mantri Internship Scheme in the Union Budget-2024-25 under which the youth will get a monthly allowance of Rs 5,000 along with internship. While presenting the budget, the Finance Minister said that the government will encourage 30 lakh youth entering the job market by contributing one month’s PF (Provident Fund).

What did Congress say?

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram took a dig at the internship scheme and said that he was happy that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman read out the manifesto of the main opposition party after the Lok Sabha elections. Chidambaram said that the government has adopted the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI). Along with this, it has also started the apprenticeship scheme along with the allowance for the trainee which was in the Congress manifesto. Chidambaram said that he wished the Finance Minister had copied some other ideas from the Congress manifesto.

The government accepted unemployment as a crisis- Congress

Attacking the government, Congress said that after 10 years of denial, the Central Government has accepted that unemployment is a national crisis which needs immediate attention. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the internship scheme announced by the government is based on the promise of the right to apprenticeship in the Congress manifesto for this Lok Sabha election. Congress had promised to give Rs 8500 per month for one year along with training to unemployed diploma and degree holders.
