All about dementia: The risk of dementia is increasing rapidly. The word dementia is used for many brain-related diseases in which a person’s memory becomes weak and he does not remember even his daily things. When this disease increases beyond limits, people start forgetting the way to their home. Usually this disease occurs in people aged 60 years or more, but in the present times, the youth is also at risk of this. Medical experts have also expressed concern over the increasing cases of dementia among the elderly and the youth.

According to health experts, 88 lakh people aged 60 years and above in India are suffering from some form of dementia. If the right steps are not taken soon, this disease can wreak havoc.
Dr Jyoti Bala Sharma, Director of Neurology at Fortis Hospital, Noida, told AnyTV That due to high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and depression, young people are increasingly becoming victims of dementia. This shows that in the coming few decades, dementia can be seen affecting younger people. It is very important to detect and treat dementia early. Some types of dementia can be cured and in others, treatment can improve the lives of patients and their families.
Dr Kapil Kumar Singhal, Director of Neurology at Fortis Hospital, Noida, told AnyTV That the incidence of dementia increases with increasing age. According to the study, by 2050, about 20% of the population in India will be above 60 years of age. By 2050, cases of dementia will increase by about 2-3 times. Diabetes, high BP, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, depression, smoking and drinking alcohol are increasing the cases of dementia. People have to change all these habits and keep BP and diabetes under control. The risk of dementia can also be reduced by improving the lifestyle.
