Canadian Parliament observed silence on the anniversary of the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Nijjar.
Ottawa: When the Canadian Parliament paid tribute to the Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar by observing a moment of silence on his killing, India left no stone unturned in giving a befitting reply to Ottawa. Recalling the incident of an Indian civilian plane being blown up by Khalistani terrorists in 1985, India, without naming Canada, said that India knows how to deal with terrorism well. Let us tell you that recalling the Kanishka bomb blast, the most heinous terrorist air accident in the history of civil aviation, the Indian Consulate General in Vancouver has given a befitting reply to Canada without naming it. The Indian Embassy has said that India is at the forefront in dealing with the problem of terrorism and is working together with all countries to deal with this global threat.
It is noteworthy that the Montreal-New Delhi Air India ‘Kanishka’ flight number 182 exploded 45 minutes before landing at London’s Heathrow Airport on 23 June 1985, killing all 329 people on board the plane. Most of them were Canadians of Indian origin. Khalistani terrorists were accused of this bomb blast. The blast was allegedly carried out in retaliation for ‘Operation Bluestar’ carried out in 1984 to flush out terrorists from the Golden Temple. The Indian Consulate General has planned a commemorative event on the anniversary of the bomb blast. The Indian Consulate General in Vancouver wrote on ‘X’ on Tuesday, “India is at the forefront in combating the threat of terrorism and is working closely with all countries to deal with this global threat.”
India will celebrate the 39th anniversary of the plane crash
The Indian Embassy said, “23 June 2024 marks the 39th anniversary of the cowardly terrorist attack on Air India Flight No. 182 (Kanishka), in which 329 innocent people, including 86 children, lost their lives. It was one of the most heinous terrorism-related air accidents in the history of civil aviation.” The commemoration event will be held on June 23 at the ‘Air India Memorial’ at Capperley Playground in Stanley Park in Vancouver. The Consulate encouraged members of the Indian community to join the event to show solidarity against terrorism. The tribute event organized by India comes amid tensions in India’s relations with Canada over the issue of Khalistani terrorists.
India has rejected the allegations of Justin Trudeau
In September last year, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had alleged the “possible” involvement of Indian agents in the killing of alleged Sikh terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India has rejected Trudeau’s allegations as “absurd and motivated”. India says the main issue between the two countries is that Canada is providing unhindered shelter to pro-Khalistan elements operating from its soil. India has repeatedly expressed its “deep concern” to Canada and New Delhi expects Ottawa to take strong action against such elements.
Meanwhile, the Canadian Parliament on Tuesday observed the first anniversary of Nijjar’s death by observing a moment of silence in the House of Commons. He was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia on June 18 last year. Canadian police have arrested four Indian citizens in connection with the murder. (Language)
