A very surprising incident has come to light in the Vasant Kunj South police station area of South-West Delhi, where a minor ruckus took a violent form. A young man running a Thar jeep, angry at stopping the horn, crushed a man with a jeep. In this barbaric attack, bones were broken from more than 10 places of both the legs of the victim. The incident took place on Saturday morning. The victim has been identified as Rajiv Kumar, who is originally from Bihar and currently lives with his family in Mahipalpur, Delhi. He works as a guard on Terminal-3 of Delhi Airport.
Description of the event:
Rajiv Kumar told the police in a complaint that his duty from 10 am to morning was on Terminal-3. After the duty was over, when he got down from the cab near Mahipalpur Chowk and was walking towards the house, a Thar jeep came from behind playing a sharp horn from behind. Rajiv appealed to the driver not to play the horn. On this matter, the Thar driver became enraged and deliberately carried the car on Rajiv.
The high speed jeep crushed both Rajiv’s legs, making his condition critical. The people present on the spot immediately informed the police. Inspector Arvind Pratap Singh from Vasant Kunj South police station arrived at the scene with his team and the injured was immediately admitted to the nearest hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Quick action of police:
Taking the matter seriously, the police registered a case under sections of attempt to murder and arrested the accused within just 6 hours. The accused has been identified as Vijay alias Lala, a resident of Rangpuri. A case has been registered against Vijay in other serious sections including attempt to murder (Section 307 of IPC). According to the police officer, criminal records are being investigated before the accused.
conclusion:
This incident is another example of increasing violent tendencies on the minor things happening on the road in Delhi. A simple appeal – “Do not play horn” – but such a fierce and fatal attack is a matter of concern for the society. The quick action of the police has brought the accused to the back of bars, but it is also necessary that the judicial system in such cases should be faster and strict, so that anyone in future will think a hundred times before doing such a crime.
