A tragic accident took place on Dehradun-Mussoorie road in Uttarakhand on Monday morning. A jeep fell into a deep gorge on Monday near Shikhar Fall, a tourist spot located in Rajpur area. A young man and a girl traveling in it died on the spot and three others were injured. The incident created a stir in the area. When people heard the screams, the police was informed about the incident.
Rescued 3 people from the ditch
The accident happened in the morning when the five people were returning home after visiting Shikhar Falls. On receiving the information, the police and State Disaster Response Force team reached the spot and conducted a rescue operation. Two persons had died on the spot in the accident. Three others were taken out of the ditch in injured condition and taken to the hospital where they are being treated.
jeep brakes failed
During interrogation, the injured told the police that they were returning after visiting Shikhar Falls and suddenly the brakes of their jeep failed and it went out of control and fell into the ditch below the road. The deceased have been identified as Ayush Sharma (30), resident of posh Teg Bahadur Road, Dehradun, and Avni Kukreti (29), resident of Kaulagarh Road, Dehradun. Sharma was working in the Merchant Navy while Avni ran a café on Mussoorie Road.
