paris olympics 2024
Paris Olympics 2024 will end today, while all the Indian fans are keeping an eye on the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) regarding Vinesh Phogat. Vinesh was disqualified just before the gold medal match due to being 100 grams overweight, after which Phogat has appealed to CAS, in which she has petitioned for a shared silver medal. Before Vinesh, CAS has given a decision in another case in which they have decided to give the bronze medal to Romanian gymnast athlete Ana Barbosu.
Barbosu had appealed to CAS against wrong scoring
Romanian athlete Ana Barbosu appealed to CAS regarding wrong scoring in the floor event at Paris Olympics in which she finished fourth. In this event, Jordan Chiles of America got 13.766 points while Ana got 13.700 points. Hearing Barbosu’s appeal, CAS gave a decision in her favor in which she will now get the bronze medal. During this event, Jordan Chiles appealed regarding some problem in the floor, after which the panel of judges gave her separate marks on the complaint of ‘degree of difficulty’. Ana had registered her protest regarding this but her point was not accepted at that time, after which she decided to go to CAS.
Now all eyes are on Vinesh’s decision
After the CAS decision on Ana Barbosu, now all the Indian fans are keeping an eye on the decision on Vinesh Phogat. In this case, Harish Salve has presented his side on behalf of Vinesh Phogat. The decision on this is expected to come on August 13 by 6:30 pm Indian time.
