Dhanbad . The CBI on Monday arrested PF clerk Arvind Kumar Rai and another worker Sheetal Bauri in Mugma area of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) in Dhanbad district red handed taking bribe of Rs 15,000.
Two or three other employees of ECL are questioning the commissioning of PF and gratuity in the name of payment of PF and gratuity.
It was told that Umesh Prasad Singh, working in the Electric Department of Khudia Colliery of Mugma area, was to retire on 31 March 2025. Farewell was also to be held in the office on this occasion. He submitted an application to take PF and gratuity amount on retirement.
Arvind Kumar Rai, who deals with PF related cases in the Personnel Department of Colliery, demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 to further his file. Umesh Prasad Singh complained to the CBI’s office in Dhanbad.
After verification of the complaint, the CBI team prepared a plan for the trap. According to the plan, Umesh Prasad Singh called PF clerk Arvind Kumar Rai to pay the bribe amount on Monday, then he asked Sheetal Bauri, who works under him, to pay the amount.
He also said that he will get money through Bauri. After this Umesh Prasad Singh gave 15 thousand rupees to Sheetal Bauri. Shortly after this, Sheetal reached to give this amount to Arvind Kumar Rai, then the CBI team arrested both of them on the spot.
The CBI team has also taken two other employees of the Personnel Department Shankar Chauhan and Ajay Kumar Mandal to their ECL Mugma Area Guest House for questioning. The team seized printers, files and four personnel from the office for mobile examination.
During the last 35 days in Jharkhand, nine people have been arrested in the action of state and center investigative agencies in separate cases of bribery.
