The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the death of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited Chief Engineer-cum-General Manager Vimal Negi will continue, as the double bench of the Himachal Pradesh High Court on Thursday refused to intervene in the decision to hand over the investigation to the CBI, and termed that part of the petition as non-person.
However, a division bench of Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia and Justice Ranjan Sharma, giving partial relief to Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi, has accepted the petition only to the extent that it belongs to the individual and professional reputation of Gandhi and other SIT members, and said that their professional reputation should not be reduced.
The Division Bench refused to ‘amend’ and intervene in the case of Gandhi’s letters patent appeal (LPA), refusing to ‘amend’ and intervene, but issued notices to all the response to the Union of India, CBI, Himachal Pradesh and the family of the deceased on the issue of individual and commercial comments made against Gandhi and him.
