New Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday said that Delhi Police has seized the DVRs of the CCTV cameras installed inside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s house in connection with the investigation into the attack on Swati Maliwal. Also, AAP has accused the police of fabricating stories to tarnish the party’s image in the elections. There was no immediate reaction from Delhi Police on this. AAP’s Rajya Sabha member Maliwal has alleged that Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar attacked her on May 13 when she had gone to the Chief Minister’s residence to meet him.
AAP has rejected her allegations and claimed that Maliwal is now working at the behest of BJP to implicate Arvind Kejriwal. Bibhav Kumar was arrested on Saturday and presented in the court, which sent him to police custody for five days. Addressing a press conference on Sunday, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the police have already seized the DVR (digital video recorder) of the CCTV cameras. He claimed that ‘on Saturday they confiscated the DVRs of the cameras installed at the main gate, boundary wall and on Sunday they confiscated the DVRs of the cameras installed in other parts of the house. The police are fabricating stories that the CCTV (camera) footage has been removed but they have already seized it. Bhardwaj said that the CCTV cameras and their footage are maintained by the Public Works Department and are under its custody.
He also raised questions on the sequence of events in the case. Bhardwaj said that ‘Swati Maliwal had called on May 13 and within no time the copy of the FIR in the case was all over the media. The FIR in the matter has been registered under section 354 (B), which is a sensitive case which pertains to a woman. But the FIR was circulated everywhere. However, accused Vibhav Kumar and AAP did not have a copy of the FIR. Following Maliwal’s complaint, Delhi Police has registered a case of molestation and attempt to commit culpable homicide against Kumar.
Conspiracy to eliminate AAP? Why Arvind Kejriwal got angry, mentioned BJP’s secret ‘operation’
Bhardwaj also responded to the allegations that the CCTV camera footage has been deleted. Delhi Minister said that ‘the incident happened in the drawing room. Usually no one puts cameras there. I have never seen a CCTV camera. When there is no camera then how can its footage be deleted? The police have everything. And if the police had seen anything, they would have shared it with the media. He alleged that ‘the police are fabricating stories at the behest of BJP to tarnish AAP’s image before the elections.’ Voting for seven Lok Sabha seats of Delhi will be held on May 25.
