Korba. CG Budget 2022: In the budget presented in the Vidhan Sabha, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced six new tehsils in the state. This includes Deepka and Bhaisma of two Korba districts. Due to the status of Tehsil to these areas, people here will not have to travel long distances for revenue work. Sewerage treatment plant will be set up in Korba. For this the amount has been approved in the budget. Apart from Korba, sewerage treatment plants will also be constructed at Shivrinarayan, Chandrapur, Dantewada and Sakti. A provision of 20 crores has been kept for all the five projects.
The new district Korba came into existence in the year 1998 after being separated from Bilaspur, at that time there were five tehsils Korba, Katghora, Kartala, Pali and Podi Uporda. After 23 years, in the year 2020, Bhupesh Sarkar made Darri, Pasan and Hardibazar as new tehsils. In the same year, Ajgarbahar and Barpali were also announced to be made tehsils. Even a year had not passed that in the year 2022, two more new tehsils Deepka and Bhaisma have been announced. With this, the number of tehsils in the district will increase to 12. This will speed up the disposal of pending revenue cases. Earlier, remote villagers had to travel 40 to 45 kms on an average to reach Tehsil Headquarters, now this range will be reduced. Talking about the city of Korba, due to lack of sewerage system, the dirty water coming out of the houses is getting absorbed in the rivers and drains.
Installation of sewerage treatment plant will get rid of this problem, as well as water conservation. About 60 MLD (Metric Liter Day) of contaminated water is generated every day. It is planned to clean this water and supply it to the plant of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Korba. 53 crore will be spent in this scheme. The state government and management will spend 25-25 percent of the amount spent in the establishment of this plant to be set up with Triple P (Public Private Partnership). The central government will give 50 percent of the amount. At present, the state government has approved Rs 4 crore in the budget.
With this, the possibility of starting work on this project soon has increased. This will bring many benefits to the plant. The sewerage water will be disposed off and the treated water will be supplied to the NTPC plant. It will be used for power generation. By connecting more than two dozen small and big drains together, contaminated water will reach from the main pipeline to the treatment plant. Even the water of the rainy season will not be wasted and can be used.
At present, Water Resources Department supplies 218 MLD of water daily from Hasdeo Darri Barrage to NTPC’s 2600 MW power plant operating at Jamnipali. After the water received from the water treatment plant, only 158 MLD water will have to be given from Hasdeo barrage. The saved water can be supplied to the farmers for irrigation in summer.
Water augmentation scheme will be expanded
A provision of 380 crores has been kept for urban bodies under the water augmentation scheme. At present, water supply has been started by laying pipelines in the municipal area under the Jal Avadhana Yojana and water is being provided by connecting door-to-door connections. Meanwhile, new connection holders are also coming forward due to the setting up of a new settlement or construction of a new house. To provide drinking water to these houses also, the government has made a provision of funds in the budget, so that drinking water facility is available to every household. If this amount is approved, the water augmentation scheme will be expanded.
Medical units also in Deepka, Katghora, Chhuri and Pali
Medicines are being provided by free health check-up and treatment through mobile medical vehicle. In Korba, eight mobile units are providing health services by setting up camps in the wards. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced in the budget to expand this scheme and implement it in all urban bodies. The residents of Nagar Panchayat Pali and Chhuri, Nagar Palika Parishad, Katghora and Deepka areas of the district will also get the benefit of this soon.
20 thousand workers of the district will join the old pension
Employees’ unions have been demanding the implementation of the old pension scheme for a long time. In fact, the new pension scheme was implemented for the personnel involved under the new recruitment after the year 2004. The employees’ unions were protesting, stating the flaws of this scheme. Many times dharnas and demonstrations were also held. Fulfilling this important demand of the employees’ union, the announcement of the implementation of the old pension scheme has been made in the budget. This will benefit about 20 thousand personnel posted in various departments of the district. There was joy among the government employees about this.
