Champawat MLA Kailash Gahatodi has left the seat for Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. On Thursday, MLA Gehtori submitted his resignation to the Speaker Ritu Khanduri. During the program organized at the residence of Speaker of the Assembly in Yamuna Colony, MLA Gahatodi said that he has taken this step for the development of Champawat.
After submitting his resignation, Gehtodi said, ‘I have no selfishness, just be patient for five years.’ Said that development has not taken place in the area, but now if CM Dhami steps in, then development of the area will be possible. State President Madan Kaushik says that the organization is considering what will be the role of Gehtori in the future.
He says that MLA Gehtori has contributed a lot for the development of the state. Let us tell you that Dhami lost the election from Khatima assembly seat. About a dozen MLAs were ready to leave for CM Dhami. Cabinet Ministers Chandan Ramdas, Saurabh Bahuguna, State President Madan Kaushik, BJP Organization General Secretary Ajay Kumar etc. were present on this occasion.
On whom will the Congress bet against the CM?
It is almost certain that CM Dhami will contest from Champawat. In such a situation, there will be pressure on Congress to field a strong candidate against CM Dhami. However, he has options like former Congress MLA Hemesh Kharkwal, former Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Singh Mahra, senior Congress leader Vimla Sajwan in this seat.
Champawat Congress District President Puran Singh Kathait is also being seen as the face of the party in the event of a by-election. But it depends on the Congress high command which leader it field against CM Dhami.
