The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has prepared the draft schedule of the Champions Trophy 2025 and submitted it to the ICC. This time Pakistan has got the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy. The PCB has fixed the Champions Trophy match of its team against arch-rival India in Lahore on March 1 next year. However, the problem is that the BCCI has not yet given its consent to participate in it and send Team India to Pakistan.
According to the PCB, the tournament will run from February 19 to March 9, with March 10 being the reserve day. That is, one more day has been kept for the final.
PCB chief went to Barbados for the T20 World Cup 2024 final
Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi was called to Barbados for the T20 World Cup final. According to a PTI report, during this time he has presented a schedule of 15 matches. It is said that in this schedule all the matches of the Indian team have been kept in Lahore due to security reasons. A member of the ICC board has told PTI that the PCB has presented a draft of the 15-match ICC Champions Trophy. According to this, 7 matches will be played in Lahore, 3 in Karachi and 5 in Rawalpindi. The source has said that the Champions Trophy will start in Karachi, while the two semi-finals will be played in Karachi and Rawalpindi. The final will be held in Lahore.
India and Pakistan in same group
All the matches of India will be held in Lahore including the semi-finals. Two groups have been formed for the Champions Trophy. India and Pakistan have been placed in Group A. Apart from these two teams, Bangladesh and New Zealand are also in it. Group B includes teams from Australia, South Africa, England and Afghanistan. Recently, during an ICC event, head Chris Tetley met PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad.
No response has been given by BCCI yet
Earlier, Pakistan last hosted the Asia Cup in the year 2023, which was played under the hybrid model. During this time India played its matches in Sri Lanka. This was done because the government refused to allow the players to go to Pakistan.
