Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Bima Sakhi’ scheme of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) here today. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini welcomed the Prime Minister and highlighted how the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ (BBBP) campaign has brought about a massive transformation in Haryana and made it a role model for women empowerment.
“Choosing Panipat to launch these women-centric initiatives shows that Haryana has made significant progress in empowering women,” the Chief Minister said. He assured the Prime Minister that the state will ensure the success of ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ like the BBBP campaign.
The Chief Minister emphasized that women are one of the four pillars of India’s development vision under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. She described the central government’s move to reserve 33% legislative seats for women as an important step towards increasing their participation in democracy. Inspired by this, Haryana has taken several measures to empower women.
