Chandigarh The Chandigarh Congress has described the ad hoc (adhoc) grant of ₹ 125 crore given by the Central Government to the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) as “very less and too late”. The party says that this amount will not have any permanent impact on the poor financial condition of the corporation. Chandigarh Congress chief spokesperson Rajiv Sharma said that this lump sum grant is like putting just one band-ed on a badly leak wound. He said that there is a need to bring a big and systematic change in the methods of allocation of resources to improve the corporate situation of the corporation.
He accused the BJP of ruining the Municipal Corporation and said that while MP Manish Tiwari is talking about giving a certain percentage of total revenue allotted to the Union Territory to save the corporation, the local BJP is happy on a minor grant. Sharma said that since 2015, since the BJP has controlled the corporation, its financial situation has declined a huge decline.
The Congress spokesperson has demanded that a white paper should be issued to highlight the causes of the municipal corporation’s financial condition since 2015.
