Chandigarh The Chandigarh Youth Congress demonstrated strongly on Sunday to protest against the alleged politics lodged against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in Darbhanga, Bihar. By burning the effigy of the BJP at Halmajra Light Point, the workers raised slogans against the policies of the central government and called it an attack on freedom of expression.
The demonstration was led by District President Vikas Khanna, which included several officials and activists including State Youth Congress President Deepak Lubana, Vice President Robbana, Sukhdev, Bhanu Priya, General Secretary Kapil Chopra, Yatin, Ashu Vaid, Deepak Jaiswal, Dheeraj Gupta, Vishal, Jagga and Shadan.
Youth Congress leaders alleged that this FIR was associated with Rahul Gandhi’s dialogue program in which he met Dalit students in Ambedkar Hostel, Darbhanga under ‘Education Justice Dialogue’. He said that the BJP government is misusing democratic institutions and is trying to suppress the voice of the opposition.
State President Deepak Lubana said, “Rahul Gandhi is a symbol of the youth power and constitution of the country. Every attack against him is an attack on democracy. If the government does not back down from its repressive attitude, the Youth Congress will intensify the movement in the entire state.”
The Youth Congress also made it clear that they would not back down from the struggle on the streets to protect the Constitution and democracy.
