Dehradun: The doors of the famous Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams located in the upper Garhwal region of Uttarakhand will be opened for the devotees today on the festival of Akshaya Tritiya after being closed for six months during the winter season and with this this year’s Chardham Yatra will begin. . Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while congratulating the devotees coming on Chardham Yatra, said that he has prayed to God for the safe completion of the Yatra.
The doors of the temple will open at this time
Temple committees said that the doors of Kedarnath and Yamunotri will open at 7 am while the doors of Gangotri will open at 12.20 pm. According to him, the doors of Badrinath, another Dham included in the famous Dham known as Char Dham, will open at 6 am on May 12. Harish Gaur, media in-charge of Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee, said that the temple is being decorated with flowers for the inauguration of the Kedarnath temple.
Temple decorated with 20 quintals of flowers
He said that with the help of donors, the temple is being decorated with about 20 quintals of flowers of different species which have been transported there through helicopter. According to officials, there is tremendous enthusiasm among the devotees regarding the yatra and till 4 pm on Thursday, more than 22 lakh devotees have registered themselves for the Char Dham. According to the Chardham Yatra Registration Bulletin, the number of registrations through web portal, mobile app and WhatsApp has so far reached 22,28,928. This time also the government has announced to shower flowers from helicopter on the occasion of opening of doors of all the four Dhams.
CM Dhami greeted the devotees
In a statement issued here, the Chief Minister greeted the devotees and said that the government is making efforts for a safe Chardham Yatra. He said that it is the effort of the state government that the devotees returning home after completing the yatra should take with them golden memories. Describing the Chardham Yatra as a celebration for the state, he expressed confidence that this year’s Chardham Yatra will break all its previous records.
The journey will last for six months
The local people also wait for the beginning of the Chardham Yatra which takes place every summer. During this six-month long Yatra, lakhs of devotees and tourists coming from India and abroad are a source of employment and livelihood for the people and that is why Chardham Yatra is considered to be the backbone of the economy of Garhwal Himalaya. Due to the heavy snowfall and severe cold of the Dhams in winter, their doors are closed for the devotees every year in October-November, which are reopened again in April-May the next year.
