Chandigarh Haryana Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Hisar has filed a charge sheet against District Police Inspector Kapil Kumar Sihag in a serious case of bribery. Sihag was at that time working as an in-charge of Hisar CIA-2. He has been booked under Section 61 (2), 127 (2), 140 (3), 308 (2) and Section 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) 2023.
In a complaint given to the ACB, Aman, a resident of Litani village in Hisar district, alleged that on 10 October 2024, policemen picked him up from the village to CIA-2 Hisar, where he was threatened with a bribe of Rs 30 lakh by threatening to implicate him in a case. This amount was sought through middlemen – Richpal and Ramesh Dhaka. Later, the ‘deal’ was fixed for Rs 17.5 lakh and Aman handed over Rs 2 lakh to Richhapal under it, out of which Rs 1.5 lakh was given to the soldier Ajay Kumar.
Subsequently, on 21 October, Richhapal collected a total of Rs 10 lakh from his and partner Ramesh Dhaka and gave it to the soldier Ajay. When the complainant Aman was again demanded for 10 lakhs, he reported this in the ACB. On October 24, ACB arrested Richthapal red -handed, taking a bribe of Rs 5.8 lakh.
During the investigation in this entire case, the involvement of Inspector Kapil Sihag also came to light, on the basis of which he was arrested on 18 February 2025. He is currently in judicial custody. The arrest of five other accused remains in this case.
