Ambikapur. A nurse has been gang-raped in a government hospital in Chhattisgarh. The incident happened on Saturday. The nurse was taken hostage in the hospital in Jhagrakhand police station area. His arms and legs were tied to the bed. Then 4 people gangraped. 3 accused have been arrested. This incident has raised questions on the safety of women under the rule of the Congress government of the state. Additional SP Nimesh Baraiya said that the hospital was closed in the afternoon due to the festival of Diwali. The nurse was preparing to go home. Then the accused entered the hospital and took him hostage. He dragged her to a room. There he tied his hands and feet on a bed.

The victim nurse told that she was gang-raped continuously till 5 pm. Video of gang rape was also made. After the gangrape, the accused also threatened to kill her if she told anyone. The nurse somehow reached home. He informed the family about the incident. After that went to the police station and lodged a complaint. Police has caught 2 accused from Ambikapur itself. According to the police, the police has been deployed in view of the tension in the nurse’s village. The police have not disclosed the names of the accused in this case.
BJP’s Mahila Morcha has protested in this matter. The government hospital where the incident took place also has an Anganwadi, Gram Panchayat and a secondary school in its premises. If we look at the incidents of rape of women in Chhattisgarh, then in the year 2017, there were 1908 cases. There were about 2000 cases in 2018. Whereas, 2575 cases were registered in 2019.
