Trade worth thousands of crores of rupees takes place between India and Bangladesh. A large quantity of readymade cheap T-shirts and jeans come to India from Bangladesh.
The effect of violence and unrest in Bangladesh has started showing on Indian markets. The effect of the coup in the neighboring country has started showing on the two-way trade between India and Bangladesh. Especially the cheap jeans and t-shirts available in the markets of Delhi-NCR are now in danger.
According to the traders associated with the wholesale markets of readymade garments in Delhi, readymade garments in Indian markets, which mainly include T-shirts and denim jeans, come from Bangladesh only. But after the violence spread in Bangladesh for the last few days, the trade of both the countries has almost collapsed. Neither goods are being supplied from there nor goods are being sent from here to there.

This thing used to go to Bangladesh in large quantities from Chandni Chowk Delhi, it was the first choice of girls, everything has stopped since 1 week
Shri Bhagwan Bansal, general secretary of Delhi Hindustani Mercantile Association, Chandni Chowk, says that apart from wholesale markets like Chandni Chowk, Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar Cloth Market, Tank Road Readymade Garment Market, as well as retail markets like Lajpat Nagar Market, Sarojini Nagar Market etc. sell readymade clothes coming from Bangladesh. A large number of customers from across the country come here to buy. Goods are supplied from these wholesale markets of Delhi for sale in every corner of the country. Traders from India come here and buy goods and take them away.
Bansal said, however, after this reversal in Bangladesh, the connection with the traders there has almost been cut off. Neither is it possible to send goods from here to there nor are we able to get goods from there.
Clothes costing from Rs 60 to Rs 200
Bansal says that readymade clothes from Bangladesh are also liked here because excellent T-shirts are available from there at the price of Rs 60 to Rs 200, which the traders here sell by taking their margin. At the same time, stitched denim jeans also come cheap from there, because the labor is cheap there and jeans are stitched at a very low price. Therefore, these T-shirts and jeans are sold in abundance in the open markets of Delhi NCR.
There might be a shortage of goods
Bansal says that given the current situation in Bangladesh and the fact that there is no full possibility of trade from there, there could be a shortage of goods in the Indian markets. At present, traders are selling whatever is in stock. This is also because festivals are coming in the country in the coming time. It is starting with Rakshabandhan. Then Janmashtami, Navratri, Diwali and the wedding season will come in the coming days.
