Malviya Nagar police station has achieved great success by arresting a notorious criminal who has been absconding for 17 years. Accused Chetan Singhiwal not only changed his form to avoid the clutches of police and law, but also started the process of gender change and prepared to join the transgender community as ‘consciousness’. The police conducted a special monitoring operation for months to catch him and eventually arrested him.
Stayed absconding for 17 years after crime
According to the police, the case is similar to the story of a thriller film or novel, in which the criminal fooled the police by hiding his real identity for years. This case is of 2008. Chetan Singhiwal was arrested under FIR No. 110/2008 (Section 457, 380 IPC) registered in Malviya Nagar police station area and sent to Central Jail on 13 February 2008. But after being released on bail, he did not appear in court and escaped. The court then issued a permanent arrest warrant against him.
Police actions disclosed
On the instructions of former Deputy Commissioner of Police Tejaswini Gautam (IPS), a special campaign is being carried out to arrest the absconding criminals. Chetan Singhiwal was arrested by a team of Malviya Nagar Police Station on the basis of intelligence information, which included Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Asharam Chaudhary (RPS), Assistant Police Commissioner Aditya Punia (RPS) and Station House Officer Sangram Singh.
Changed its appearance, changed the name and was going to become transgender
After the arrest, there were shocking revelations in the interrogation. The accused said that he had been preparing for gender change for a long time. He started calling himself ‘consciousness’ and even learned to wear and talk like eunuchs. He had almost completed the required rituals and paperwork to join the transgender community. I also had to take medical appointments for gender change. Now only the final process was left.
The accused kept changing his place and managed to save himself from the police by changing his name and identity several times. But eventually the police vigilance and hard work paid off. Accused Chetan Singhiwal (37) is a resident of Prem Nagar, Agra Road, Kanota police station, Jaipur. The police is also investigating what more criminal activities did Chetan do during the absconding. At the same time, his arrest is also likely to open the layers of many old cases.
