Kawardha (Naiduniya News). Habitual thief Lokesh Shriwas (31) resident of Kailash Nagar Kawardha in Chhattisgarh has been arrested by the local City Kotwali police with stolen jewelery worth six kg 400 grams of gold. He stole these ornaments from a jewelery shop in Vizianagaram area of Andhra Pradesh. The value of the seized jewelery is said to be Rs 3.5 crore. The accused has also committed theft in Odisha along with Pandariya, Kawardha, Gandai, Durg. According to the police, the accused Lokesh Shriwas is a former habitual offender of the district.
On Thursday, Kabirdham police exposed the theft of crores of rupees. Now Durg IG OP Pal and Kabirdham SP Dr. Lal Umend have given information about the incidents of Lokesh, who has committed 12 theft incidents. The SP said that on February 23, Lokesh Shrivas got information about seeing some items kept in a suspicious condition in Kawardha city. It was raided at his residence.
During the search of the house, a large quantity of gold jewelery was found in a bag. During interrogation, he told to steal from Vizianagaram area. Videography of other jewelery including gold found from the possession of the accused has also been done. So that no question arises in future. The local police contacted Andhra Pradesh Police and informed about the incident. On Thursday, the Andhra Pradesh police team has also reached Kawardha, which will take the accused with them for questioning.
District Magistrate has been accused
According to the police, the accused Lokesh Shriwas is a former habitual offender of the district. He lives separately from his parents with his wife and two children. In February 2019, he was jailed for a year. That district has remained Badar. On June 1, 2017, he was presented in the SDM Court Kawardha after preparing the Istgasha from the Kawardha police station to ban him for habitual theft. Information was received from the special informer that Lokesh Shrivas has not been in his residence for a few days. His activities seem suspicious. By activating the information system on this, moment to moment news of Lokesh was being received.
Used to steal as soon as he was released from jail on bail
Police said that apart from Chhattisgarh, many cases are registered against the accused in other states as well. After registering the case, the accused is sent to jail. But after getting out of jail on bail, he started stealing again. The accused has gone to jail several times. ASP Manisha Thakur Raote, SHO Kawardha Inspector Kapil Dev Chandra, Assistant Sub Inspector Chandrakant Tiwari from Cyber Cell, Manish Kumar, Principal constable Indu Netam, constable Anilsen, female constable Gayatri Pattavi, constable Akash Rajput played a special role in the action of his capture.

On 20 May 2006, a motorcycle was stolen with cash from the house of Hiralal, a resident of Pandatarai. On 9 November 2012, theft of silver waistband, crown, jewelery etc. (47 thousand rupees) from Maa Vidwansini temple, Kawardha. On 24 February 2013, he stole jewelery worth about Rs 1.50 lakh by breaking the lock of Kapil Narayan Namdev’s house in Kawardha. On the night of 6 July 2014, 88 mobiles and cash (Rs 4.80 lakh) were stolen by breaking the lock of Ajay Kumar Gupta’s mobile shop in Kawardha.
On 6th April 2016, Rs 19 was stolen in cash from Banit Singh Saluja’s shop in Pandariya. On August 14, 2016, Umesh stole clothes worth 20 thousand rupees from Bazar shop in Kawardha. On 23 July 2017, gold and silver jewelery worth 40 thousand rupees was stolen by breaking the lock of the deserted house of Agamdas Manikpuri in Kawardha.
On 19th April 2017, Harmit Singh Dua’s shop in Pandaria stole mobile and cash (Rs 4.67 lakh) by breaking the lock of his mobile shop. On 30 October 2020, gold jewelery worth Rs 1.5 crore was stolen from the jewelery shop of Barapara police station, district Berhampur, Odisha.
Apart from this, the accused has stolen gold jewelery worth crores from a jewelery shop in the fort, in a jewelery shop in Gandai police station area of Rajnandgaon district.
