Narayanpur. Security forces killed seven Naxalites in an encounter on Thursday on the border of Narayanpur and Bijapur districts of Chhattisgarh. According to police officials, information was received about the presence of Naxalites of Platoon No. 16 and Indravati Area Committee in the border area of Narayanpur-Bijapur district. Immediately, a joint team of DRG, Bastar Fighters and STF of Narayanpur, Dantewada and Bastar districts was sent for patrolling. He said that when the team was in the area at 11 am today, the Naxalites started firing on them.
Security forces also retaliated. Police officials said that the encounter between the security forces and the Naxalites continued for a long time. He said that security forces have recovered bodies and weapons of seven Naxalites from the incident site. There is a possibility of many Naxalites being injured in the encounter.
Police officials said that the operation against Naxalites is going on in the area. With this incident, so far 112 Naxalites have been killed in different encounters with security forces in the state this year. Earlier on May 10, 12 Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bijapur district. At the same time, on April 30, 10 Naxalites, including three women, were killed in an encounter with security forces on the border of Narayanpur and Kanker districts. Apart from this, security forces had killed 29 Naxalites in an encounter in Kanker district on April 16.
