New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a sensational interview to India TV. PM Modi answered all the questions of India TV with an open mind. When Prime Minister Modi was asked that the opposition is alleging that the India Alliance did not get equal opportunity in the Lok Sabha elections. PM Modi targeted the Congress and other opposition parties for the complaint that they have not been given equal opportunity in this election.
PM Modi narrated an old story
The Prime Minister recalled how in 1991, the then Chief Election Commissioner T.N. Seshan postponed the entire countrywide polls for 22 days after the assassination of Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi in Sriperumbudur on May 21, 1991, even though only one round of polling had been completed. He said the elections were postponed till mid-June and finally held on June 12 and 15.
T.N. Seshan contested the election on a Congress ticket
“Was that a level playing field?” PM Modi asked. “Normally when a candidate dies, election in that constituency is countermanded but in 1991, elections were postponed across the country and polling resumed only after the late leader’s last rites,” he said. “The same person (T.N. Seshan) after retirement fought against our then party president LK Advani in Gandhinagar in 1999 on a Congress ticket,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi said – Congress’s defeat in the elections is certain
PM Modi said that the opposition is following the proverb ‘If you don’t know how to dance, your courtyard will be crooked’. Their defeat is certain. That is why they are abusing the Election Commission. The opposition is violating democratic values. The people of the opposition are tarnishing India’s name abroad.
