Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal got a big setback from Rouse Avenue Court, judicial custody extended till August 27 in the excise policy scam case

New Delhi. Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal till August 27 in a case related to the alleged excise policy scam. This case is related to the excise policy scam case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation. Earlier, on Wednesday, the Supreme Court refused to grant interim bail to Kejriwal. Hearing Kejriwal’s petition, the Supreme Court refused to grant him interim bail. A division bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan issued notice to the investigating agency on the petition filed by the CBI against the Delhi High Court order justifying Kejriwal’s arrest. The court told senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Kejriwal, that interim bail cannot be granted at this time. The next hearing of this case will be on August 23.

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the CBI on the bail plea of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and sought a reply. During the hearing, no CBI representative was present in the court, due to which this notice was issued. Kejriwal had sought interim bail in the Supreme Court, challenging the Delhi High Court’s decision justifying the arrest made by the CBI in the corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam. The Supreme Court has asked the CBI to file a reply on this matter by August 23, but at present he has been refused interim bail.
