Party insiders said that the chief ministers discussed the formation of the BJP government in their respective states.
BJP has won the assembly elections in Goa for the third time in a row and for the first time secured a majority on its own in Manipur.
In a tweet after meeting Sawant, Prime Minister Modi said, “Met Dr. Pramod Sawant and the Goa BJP team. Our party is grateful to the people of Goa for giving us the mandate to serve the state again. We will continue to work for the progress of Goa in the times to come.”
In another tweet, PM Modi said, “Met N Biren ji and congratulated him on the resounding victory of Manipur BJP in the recently concluded assembly elections. Our party is working even harder to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Manipur. Committed to.”
On behalf of Sawant, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda and party’s National General Secretary (Organisation) B. Ale. Santosh and other leaders are expected to discuss the formation of the new BJP government in Goa.
Goa BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanawade is also expected to attend the meeting.
While Sawant is the front runner for the post, several other candidates are also trying their luck to become the chief minister in the coastal state. A party leader in Goa said, “With the extra time everyone is trying to be the chief minister and putting forward their candidature in front of the seniors.”
On Tuesday, BJP president Nadda and Santosh met Singh, the caretaker chief minister of Manipur, while state election in-charge Bhupendra Yadav, in-charge Sambit Patra discussed the formation of a new government in the northeastern state.
The top BJP leadership met at Prime Minister Modi’s residence late on Monday evening to discuss party government formation in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.
Meanwhile, party sources said that BJP N. It is all set to retain Biren Singh and Pramod Sawant as the Chief Ministers of Manipur and Goa respectively.
A BJP insider said that after detailed discussions, the party’s central leadership has approved the names of Sawant and Singh for the chief minister’s post of Goa and Manipur respectively.
Singh served as the Chief Minister of Manipur from 2017 to 2022. Sawant was made the Chief Minister of Goa after the death of Manohar Parrikar in March 2019.
