China’s Dandi exercise near Taiwan
Beijing/Taipei: As soon as the new President took oath in Taiwan, China has started increasing the tension in the island country. Now China’s military has started a massive two-day “punishment exercise” around Taiwan on Thursday. This has created a stir in Taiwan. Its Army, Navy, Air Force and Rocket Force are participating in this punishment exercise. China has conducted this exercise at a time when the new President of the self-ruled island of Taiwan, Lai Ching-te, has rejected China’s claim of sovereignty over the country.
The Eastern Theater Command of the China People’s Liberation Army (PLA) began joint military exercises around Taiwan Island at 7:45 am on Thursday, state news agency Xinhua reported. China believes that Taiwan should be united with the mainland even if it means using force. “The exercise serves as a stern punishment for the separatist acts of ‘Taiwan Independence’ forces and a stern warning against interference and provocation by outside forces,” said Li Xi, spokesman for the PLA Eastern Theater Command.
Chinese army landed in Taiwan Strait
This exercise is being carried out by the Chinese army in the Taiwan Strait, north, south and east of Taiwan Island as well as in areas around Kinmen, Matsu, Wuqiu and Dongyin Islands. This has caused panic in Taiwan. This is not the first time that China has sent its fighter planes and warships around Taiwan. Even before this, China has often done such activities. (Language)
