China threat amid Russian attack, Amidst the ongoing tension between Russia and Ukraine, China has also rekindled an old dispute by claiming Taiwan as its part. Due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the concern of China’s neighboring country Taiwan has also increased. Taiwan is fearing that when the attention of the US and Western countries is focused on the Ukraine crisis, China can take advantage of such a situation and take audacious steps against Taiwan. It is worth noting that China has been asserting its claim on Taiwan and has been describing this area as an inseparable part of China.
Taiwan’s government became alert
The Taiwanese government has become more cautious since the Ukraine crisis. It has also created the Ukraine Working Group under the National Security Council. In this working group meeting on Wednesday, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen said that we should increase vigilance and monitoring of military activities in the region and deal with the misinformation being spread by other countries, although he directly criticized China. Name not taken.
Britain had also alerted Taiwan
Last week, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also warned of a threat to Taiwan, saying there would be dire consequences for the world if Western countries did not keep their promise of Ukraine’s independence.
China replied, Taiwan is not Ukraine
Responding to this, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in Beijing on Wednesday, “Taiwan is not Ukraine. Taiwan has always been an inseparable part of China. This is an indisputable legal and historical fact.” He also rejected attempts to equate the situation in Taiwan and Ukraine. Significantly, China has increased its military activities around Taiwan in the last two years.
