New Delhi: Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan said he was “saddened and hurt” as he did nothing when someone abused his mother in front of Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav at a public meeting in Jamui. Paswan said, ‘If I were in Tejashwi’s place, and if someone had abused his mother, I would have given a befitting reply to that person.’ Chirag Paswan has already written a letter to Tejashwi Yadav demanding action against the person who abused him, while a complaint has also been lodged with the Election Commission.
Responding to questions from India TV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma, Paswan recalled his childhood friendship with Tejashwi, when both his father, late Ram Vilas Paswan and Lalu Prasad Yadav were political associates and friends. Used to do. Chirag Paswan said, ‘Tejashwi is like my younger brother. My father had close relations with respected Lalu ji and both used to work together. The show ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ with Chirag Paswan will also be telecast today at 10 am and 10 pm.
Rajat Sharma: Your mother was abused in the public meeting of those whom you so lovingly call your brother and friend?
Chirag Paswan: ‘today I’m sad. Today I am saddened by the fact that my family members were abused in front of the person whom I always called my younger brother. For me and I speak openly, no matter which alliance I am in. I am not afraid to say that for me Rabri ji is my mother, and I consider her my mother. For me, Misa didi is my elder sister. For me, Rohini is my sister. I have a relationship with that family. Even though today I am in another alliance, I have always maintained that relationship. I fought the political battle with great heart in front of each other. But today when my family was abused in front of Tejashwi, and the way he remained silent, it pains me. If I were in Tejashwi’s place and if any member of his family was being said in this manner in front of me, I would have given a befitting reply. I would have lodged a strong protest right there. There is absolutely no scope for this kind of language. You can make the strongest protest by remaining within limits.
Rajat Sharma: Tejashwi said that we were on the stage, who from below is saying what and making a video, what can we do? He said that thousands of people abuse me every day?
Chirag Paswan: This is even worse. Now we are justifying it. My mother is your mother too. And this is not about my mother or anyone else’s mother. This belongs to everyone. We all come from families. We all have mothers, we all have sisters, daughters. Now how can you hear this about any woman, and you are justifying it by saying that I did not hear. We are on the podium and people are down in front of us. When we go to PM Sahib’s meeting, where there is such a big D, even then if someone shouts from there, the Prime Minister hears it, and he also talks to him. In such a situation, the person standing in the first row is abusing your mother or sister in front of you, which you cannot repeat, which you cannot show without beeping, and you are standing silently and listening.
Rajat Sharma: What if someone had abused Tejashwi like this in front of you?
Chirag Paswan: What a Tejashwi, I will not listen to abuse for anyone. I can’t listen to any human being. There is no place for abuse in a civilized society. I say again and again that you can register your strongest protest by using limited words. Can you imagine how courageous a person is to abuse Chirag Paswan’s family in front of Tejashwi Yadav and nothing happened to him? Imagine, when that person goes to a village, he will not only use foul language with his sister, daughter, mother, but will probably also do wrong things and will be saved. Why? Because if nothing happened when Chirag spoke for Paswan, then these must be the common women of the village.
Rajat Sharma: The analysis of the people of Bihar is that a Yadav has abused a Paswan?
Chirag Paswan: Hey, this is division. Tell me, is every Yadav against every Paswan? Is there no Paswan in RJD and no Yadav in BJP? This is the same politics of distribution on which these people have been making their living for decades. I do not believe anyone is a Yadav. I don’t believe that anyone is a pastor. I don’t believe that anyone is advanced, anyone is backward, anyone is Hindu, anyone is Muslim. I do not agree. We all are Biharis. We all are fighting for Bihari identity.
NDA will win all 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar
LJP (Ram Vilas) chief claimed that the BJP-led NDA will clean sweep all 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar this time. He said, ‘I can say with certainty that NDA will win 40 out of 40 seats in Bihar. There is a reason for my claim. We were fighting the 2019 elections with only three parties. Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal United and Lok Janshakti Party. We had then won 39 out of 40 seats. Two more such strong parties which were with the opposition in 2019, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party and Upendra Kushwaha’s party, are with the alliance of the people today. In such a situation, the strength of our alliance has increased in 2024 as compared to 2019. This increases my confidence that we will also get the Kishanganj seat which we had missed last time and Bihar will contribute 40 seats out of more than 400 seats of NDA.
When asked if he ever received an offer from RJD to join its alliance, Chirag Paswan replied: ‘Neither there was any such proposal, nor is there scope for any such proposal in future. I have my own party. Will remain in alliance. Will remain strong. Will not merge with anyone.
Rajat Sharma: Will you ever go with Rahul Gandhi?
Chirag Paswan: It is said that ‘You never say, never’ but for this I will definitely say never.
Asked by Rajat Sharma whether the NDA would cross the 400-seat mark this time, Paswan replied: “100 per cent”.
change in constitution
On Lalu Prasad’s statement that if Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister for the third time, he will abrogate the Constitution and end reservation, Chirag Paswan replied: ‘Why would (Modi) do this? Why would anyone do this? What is the need? For what reason will the Constitution be abolished or changed? Because of this Constitution, the person who has been the Chief Minister of Gujarat, has been the Prime Minister of the country twice and is going to become the Prime Minister of the country for the third time, why would he change the Constitution? This is the constitution made by Baba Saheb. It’s not a joke. And who are the people spreading this fear? Who misused the Constitution to impose emergency in the country. Those who today talk about murder of democracy, those who say that democracy will end in the country, then what happened during the Emergency? Respected Lalu ji had named the children of the family on the basis of emergency sections (like MISA). This is just a habit of spreading confusion. Even in the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections, a statement was made that reservation would end and such an uproar was created that the entire election went in that direction. 10 years have passed since then.
Rajat Sharma: Have you ever talked to Modi ji about this? Their guarantee is that the reservation will never end.
Chirag Paswan: ‘I give a guarantee as our leader. We are the protectors of the deprived, exploited, Dalits and people coming from poor families. Let me give an example. In 2018, a big issue was raised regarding making the Scheduled Caste/Tribe Atrocity Act a little flexible. At that time my father Ram Vilas Paswan ji stood firmly in front of the government. They had to revolt. The session had to be extended to get that bill passed in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. So in such a situation this guarantee is from the Prime Minister. As of today, I can also guarantee that as long as Chirag Paswan is there, at least there is no need to fear that any right of any poor person will be snatched away. I assure you this.
